I think it's time to take a break from the pandemic and politics to reflect on something that doesn't care about either. It will do what it wills. That is our planet. The one we all live on. The one that has been crying out for attention for some time now. The latest salvo was the wildfires out West.
A lesson on our connected world.
A little brush clearing just won't cut it.
The danger in our political climate goes hand in hand with the danger in our planet's climate. If we don't work together we will all lose.

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 410 of 410A fair few stumbles from Biden. And Trump did benefit from the mic rules by not being a completely petulant child. There were some elements of genuine debate.
But I think Biden won it, hands down.
Good job by the moderator too.
And now Trump's gotta go back to his airport rallies and spend the next two weeks tellin' his dedicated Trumpkins that the senile old man didn't just bust his chops in front of everybody.
Thing is, they will believe him, or pretend to.
It was a much better debate than the first one. Of course, they didn't have to do much to accomplish that. It was a relief in that sense.
Trump was still annoying with his constant lies and meandering statements, and Biden did stumble over some of his answers.
The last question on what the winner would say to those who did not vote for him was an interesting choice. I think Biden's answer was far better than Trump's. At least in what it would mean for the country.
They just did a poll of a panel of undecided voters on CNN and the question of the unity of the country resonated the most with them. They thought the lowest point of the debate was Trump's comments about his policies regarding the Black community.
The panel's vote on who won the debate?
Zero voted for Trump.
Two said it was a draw.
Nine said Joe Biden won.
The poll of debate watchers?
32% were Democrats, 31% were Republicans.
For that group it was Biden who won.
I think both of them did poorly on Black issues. But then I thought the moderator's questions on that topic were pretty loaded.
I don't know that anybody's gonna be looking for the white Irishman's take on "Black issues" in America.
Final note on the Last Debate (which was also the first debate): Trump had a professional apply his orange "tan" this time. They got his eyes this time, did away with that reverse raccoon look he does when he does it himself. He should have that professionally done all the time. He can afford it.
"ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — An obituary for a Minneapolis-area
woman who died at age 93 included one specific request for
her mourners: Do not vote for Donald Trump.
Georgia May Adkins, of Inver Grove Heights, died of a stroke
on Sept. 28 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
A pair of obituaries published in the St. Paul Pioneer Press
included details of how she wanted to be cremated and then
honored with an Oct. 16 church service under COVID-19
protocols. And she preferred that her friends and family not
patronize a florist.

I didn't know her, but I am happy to have honored her request.
